In addition to “Beer For Bums”, and “Cellphones for Bums”….
I agree with keeping people on welfare FOREVER!
I want my parents and their friends to work two jobs while young able-bodied people live on handouts and get FOOD STAMPS!!! Seriously, who in the hell wants to learn how to fish?
I want the guys in the military (including the 4 in my family) to go off to war ill prepared and underfunded.
I believe in death squads… the more the merrier!
I want Obamacare to drain the system and leave everyone living on the streets…maybe the Baby Boomers will have to work THREE jobs!
All the ultra conservatives are exactly right, my vote had nothing to do with supporting a political party that sees women as equals and believes they are capable of making thoughtful and conscientious decisions for themselves and their families. And I certainly didn’t consider the idea that maybe the less fortunate should continue to get some support until we as a nation are back on our feet… and of course I see no difference between those who have real needs and those who are milking the system. Yes, I didn’t consider the ramifications of losing our credit rating and selling our country to China. I seriously have no clue about the dangers of the debt that’s been created and gave no thought to whose plan made more sense to me and my community. On top of that, the notion that the US needs to work with the international community instead of telling them what to do never crossed my mind. I can’t imagine why we need to tread lightly as we move into an energy future that will hopefully offer alternative sources to the insanity that continues to take place with our suppliers in the Middle East. And lastly, I never considered the views of family and friends who agree with the Republican agenda. I’m glad their candidate lost and and I’m especially glad that they’re worried about the future because of the decision I helped to make.
Whew! Feels good to clear that up! It bothered me that people assumed I put some thought into my decision and might have actually voted according to what I felt was best for my friends, my family and my community.

Posted in Americana, Makes me chuckle, Today In Boulder

A bold statement from a family that relies so heavily on government support…they must have seen the photos of Ryan pumping iron. (Photo by Jeremy Papasso /Daily Camera)
Kudos to the nut who made tiny campaign signs and then placed them at the burrows of Boulder’s Prairie Dogs. This is absolutely hysterical and you are my fun hero for the day! At the same time I offer heartfelt sympathy to the poor enforcement officer who now has to go, in full uniform, from burrow to burrow collecting the signs as the indignant little rodents pop out of their holes and chirp in your face… even worse is the possibility that removing the signs will be breaking some sort of campaign law and you are going to find yourself on a forced leave of absence due to free speech violations. I’m laughing but I promise you have my full support. Hang in there.
Let the Carl Spackler jokes begin!

Posted in Americana, Holiday Traditions, Today In Boulder

I would have raced this year but my Olympic aspirations depend on me avoiding activities that require running (or any other exertion of energy) before 9:30 am on holidays…especially when 50,000 Boulderites are involved. L-R Erin, Spice, Janice, Chris Ratay & Peter Whatshisname.
Sorry my Memorial Day post is so delayed. I actually sat down last Tuesday and typed the most amazing entry about sitting on the sidelines of the 34th Bolder Boulder and watching over 50,000 wheelers, runners and walkers come together in one of the largest Memorial Day gatherings in the world. The post was complete with fabulous photos, hysterical captions, snark about Boulder, tears of pride, images of anguish, patriotism (with matching photo of the American Flag being carried by a group of Marines) and of course the best creative writing of my life but unfortunately I added one too many photos and the entire entry was deleted off the blog. Two hours of my best work wadded up and thrown into the virtual garbage can that holds all of WordPresses randomly deleted files.
So here’s a second attempt to recreate Memorial Day Part 1. PS, Part 2 involves me, Zippy the cat and a snake jumping around the backyard in the world’s most aggressive game of hot-snake…get it? Hot-potato but with a snake? Any hoo.
