inMom has all the holiday photos from when we were little so I'm afraid I can't offer any proof that we really did wear white gloves with Easter tights. But I think this photo fits the story well. I'm sure you can imagine the craziness on Easter Eve with all these little girls. Missie is in the shorts, Fawn is in the blue jumper, Spring is in the stripes, Taffy is in red and I'm in mom's arms... because I'm the favorite.
As I was putting on my yard clothes to go outside and mow the lawn (for Easter mind you) I caught myself having the same conversation in my head that we use to have with our parents every Easter Saturday.
Us – “Why do we have to do the yard??? It’s our holiday too, ya know! We aren’t supposed to work!”
Mom or Dad (or both) – “Because the yard has to look nice for Easter.”
Us – “Buuut!!!”
Them – “Go!!”
Us – “It’s not fair!!! GAW!!!”
Them – “How ’bout we don’t celebrate Easter this year?”
Us -(silence)
This got me thinking about the entire day and all the little things we would do to prepare for Easter Sunday. Basically, Easter Saturday went a little something like this:

inI’ve been wearing this silk string for exactly two weeks. It was tied to my wrist during a baby shower to act as a reminder for me (and 28 other ladies) to spiritually support a girlfriend through the last two months of her Chinese adoption process. After four years of ups and downs we were finally able to shower our friend with love (and little dresses), and begin the official countdown for Thea’s arrival to Boulder. Yeaaa Thea!
By the way, I think it’s hysterical that I’m calling it a “Ka-Baby” bracelet! Get it? Kabbalah? Ashton and Demi’s red bracelets? No? Not funny? Am I really the only one getting this joke? (crickets) Alrighty then…

Despite its reputation as merely being “Dallas with grapes”, Falcon Crest soon found its own niche amongst the prime-time dramas of the 1980s, occupying the middle ground between the two extremes of the genre — being more glamorous than Dallas yet not quite as outrageous as Dynasty. The distinctive location filming in the Napa Valley and the dry, wryly humorous tone of the scripts gave the series a personality of its own. And to this day, the series is still sought after in reruns and on DVD by thousands of fans.
The rivalry among Angela, Chase and Richard stayed at the core of the show for years, as more romantic entanglements spun around them. Lance and Cole found themselves not only caught up in their family battles, but also competing for Melissa’s affections. – The Jane Wyman Fan Club
A friend just posted on Facebook that she’d love to find the entire series of Falcon Crest and start a weekly viewing party, sparking a fantastic memory from my own childhood that I had to share.
